Meet Robert Camenisch

(pronounced “Come in ish”)

Robert is one of six children. He was born in Kentucky, but went to Brazil as a six-year-old. While growing up in central Brazil, he witnessed the planting of churches along the new highway as the interior was opened to civilization. He returned to the United States for college, married Kay, and began seminary training to be a pastor. In 1975, Robert and Kay returned to Brazil with two children, where Robert served as a seminary intern missionary, and pastored five churches for a year.

While in Brazil that year, Robert felt the Lord did a greater work in him than through him. His relationship with the Lord was revolutionized by learning of the ancient ritual of blood covenanting. Scripture passages suddenly gained meaning and his fellowship with God was deepened. It became his central message as he taught what he had learned. Robert then focused on covenant through the rest of his seminary training, and has studied it and taught on it ever since. Even his studies for a Doctor of Ministry degree was based on the blood covenant. He learns something new every time he teaches it, even after doing so many times. He is passionate about sharing the ancient ritual of blood covenanting so other people will be impacted to a more intimate relationship with the Lord.

In 1980, at about the time he became the principal of the church school, Robert began learning about the importance of listening. In the position as principal and in all of his work since, the things he learned about the art of listening have been a key to his success in ministry and in his dealings with people. He has seen that hearing from the heart expresses caring for the soul of another.

Robert has pastored churches in Decatur, GA and Zachary, LA and was a school principal and associate pastor of a church in Oklahoma City. He and Kay worked together for the Institute in Basic Life Principles where they coordinated EQUIP, an intensive training program for young adults to learn to work with troubled youth. They then established a training center for working with juvenile offenders.

Robert is now speaking, teaching, and working with Kay to write a book about the ritual of blood covenanting and what it means for our relationship with God.

Meet Robert's family.
